摘要
Defense Letter Motion · Two-Week Adjournment of Jury Selection
This three-page filing, dated May 3, 2024 from Sidhardha Kamaraju of Pryor Cashman LLP, asks Judge Analisa Torres for a two-week adjournment of the May 22, 2024 jury-selection commencement date in United States v. Guo et al., 1:23-cr-00118 (AT).
Requested Schedule
The defense requests jury selection move from May 22, 2024 to June 5, 2024.
Defense's Reasons
1. Wang plea shortens trial: Ms. Wang's same-day guilty plea should materially shorten the trial, which the Court had set aside 6–8 weeks for two defendants;
2. Government's delayed disclosures and deficient productions: The government has continued to produce material on a rolling basis, including:
- Material responsive to the Court's Fox Hunt Order;
- Production as recently as April 25, 2024;
- Tens of thousands of documents in each of multiple recently produced devices, in formats requiring review;
3. Defense team review burden: The defense cannot meaningfully review the late-produced material and prepare for trial by the existing May 22 date.
The Court denies via memo endorsement at case-doc-321.
